Chartered in 1845 by Ezra Keller 而且 a group of pastors who broke with the German church 而且 created the English Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Ohio. The new synod voted unanimously to establish a theological 而且 literary institution that would serve the educational 而且 cultural needs of new immigrants 而且 new communities.
